Welcome to the Integrated Programs of Chengdu Meishi International School!

The Integrated Programs of our school, adhering to the IB philosophy that values innovative breakthroughs and keeping pace with the modern practices, is committed to providing high-quality international education. Here, you can feel the charm of the integration of the Chinese and western education; you will have the opportunity to appreciate national culture, and gain a deeper understanding of diverse cultures and perspectives; you will have various opportunities to develop your interests and enhance your potential to the fullest; teachers here will help you learn how to think critically and creatively, you can gain the corresponding skills and attitudes to carry out practical work, and truly understand the meaning of " building a better world".

As the only school authorized by three IB programmes in Southwest China, we are committed to the continuity and consistency of the three programmes. We have plans for students growth in all aspects, such as language cohesion, subject cohesion and learning method cohesion. The integrated system of disciplinary knowledge, including PYPs transdisciplinary learning, MYPs interdisciplinary learning and DPs TOK which links up all the subject learning, promotes students all-round development. Besides the rigorous academics, we also teach through numerous enrichment activities, such as Christmas and New Year Party, No shave November, International Day, Drama Night, 100th day in school, Pop Show, through which students could feel the charm of international education. Further, we also have CISA athletics and academics competition, and Service as Action (SA) / Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS) events initiated and planned by our students. These extracurricular activities are an extension and supplement of classroom teaching.

In order to achieve the goal of balanced development, you need to be diligent and disciplined. At this young age of your life, it is the best time to strive for excellence. The Profile of IB:

The International Baccalaureate (IB) develops and offers IB programs to young people around the world and prepares them for success at university and life beyond. Its aim is to help create a better world through offering high-quality international programs.

The IB was established in 1968. It is a non-profit educational foundation registered in UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) and a globally recognized international education pioneer. Currently, there are over 5500 IB world Schools in 160 countries.

The IB's education philosophy is to cultivate youth to be inquirers, knowledgeable, and caring citizens, in order to make a better and more peaceful world. Hence, the IB develops uniform curriculum standards and rigorous assessment systems for all the IB World Schools. In addition, IB encourages students to become active and caring lifelong learners so that they can understand and show appreciation for diverse cultures.

Authorized by the IB, Chengdu Meishi International School is an IB World School, offering the IB Continuum of the PYP, the MYP and the DP to our students. Chengdu Meishi International School is the only school in southwestern China that offers all three IB programmes.

The IB offers three programmes based on different age groups: the Primary Years Programme (PYP), the Middle Years Programme (MYP), and the Diploma Programme (DP). These three IB programmes are inter-connected but self-contained. IB World Schools may choose to offer only one IB programme, any combination of two programmes, or all three programmes.

An Introduction of Integrated Programs PYP at CMIS

The IB Programs of our Integrated Programs PYP, adhering to the IB philosophy that values innovative breakthroughs and keeping pace with the modern practices, is committed to providing high-quality international education, the PYP at CMIS integrates concept-driven, inquiry-based framework with national curriculum. The goal is to build up a harmonious learning community and offer core and extra-curriculum to help students achieve the 10 attributes of the IB learner profile.

The Advantage of Integrated Programs PYP

The IB PYP is built around six transdisciplinary themes of global significance. Students explore different themes through teacher's instruction and students-led collaborative planning. In the process, the students will understand important concepts, master basic knowledge and skills, and gain a deeper understanding of the world around them.

The IB Programs of our Integrated Programs MYP, adhering to the IB philosophy that values innovative breakthroughs and keeping pace with the modern practices, is committed to providing high-quality international education, CMIS practices inquiry-based teaching. Under the MYP framework, comprehensive curriculum and evaluation system encourage students to develop holistically and be active lifelong learners.

The Advantage of Integrated Programs MYP at CMIS

The MYP at CMIS is learner-centered and aims to cultivate IB learner profile attributes. It emphasizes on the process of inquiry, action and reflection. The teaching situation includes identity and relationship, orientation of time and space, personal and cultural expression, scientific and technical innovation, globalization and sustainability, fairness and development. And the MYP has eight subject groups: Language and Literature, Language Acquisition, Individuals and Societies, Mathematics, Arts, Physical and Health Education and Design. It pays attention to interdisciplinary cooperation, student's development and critical thinking skills.

The Advantage of Integrated Programs DP at CMIS

The IB Programs of our Integrated Programs DP, adhering to the IB philosophy that values innovative breakthroughs and keeping pace with the modern practices, is committed to providing high-quality international education, The DP was authorized by the IB Organization in February 2009. The language of instruction is English. All of the DP teachers hold official IB training certificates as well as continuous professional development in CMIS. Most of our DP teachers are also IB examiners. CMIS adopts the same standard and assessment systems that are shared world-wide.

The Achievements of Integrated Programs DP at CMIS

Since its founding in 2008, all of our DP graduates have been accepted by prestigious universities in U.S.A., the U.K., Canada, and Australia. For illustration, our students have gained admissions to excellent universities such as the University of Notre Dame, New York University and University of Southern California in USA; Durham University in the UK; University of Toronto and University of British Columbia in Canada; The University of Melbourne and The University of Sydney in Australia, and Waseda University in Japan.
